Professor of Labor and Employment Studies interviewed by NBC

Professor of Labor and Employment Studies John Logan was interviewed by NBC Bay Area to discuss potential strikes in Union Square.

The union representing Macy's employees reports that 90% of salespeople voted in favor of the strike, asking for higher wages and more affordable health insurance.

Traditional department stores are already declining due to an increase in online shopping, which means stries could be crippling during winter's peak shopping months. "The brick and mortar retail industry is obviously in a somewhat precarious situation right now with competition," says Logan, "most notably from Amazon, but also e-commerce more generally."
