Professor John Logan Discusses California Supreme Court Decision on Prop 22 on ABC7 News and the Teamsters Union's Sean O'Brien Speech at RNC with Axios

John Logan, Chair and Professor of Labor and Employment Studies, discussed the speech of the Teamsters Union President Sean O'Brien at the Republican National Convention (RNC) with AXIOS

O'Brien, a notable union leader, grabbed media attention by presenting at the RNC, highlighting the GOP’s efforts to appeal to working-class voters. Logan stated that for the GOP O’Brien’s address was a major victory, saying “O'Brien's speech was 'an enormous coup' for the GOP.”

Logan commented in an ABC7 TV news report on the California Supreme Court decision to uphold Proposition 22, which exempted app-based transportation companies like Lyft and Uber from having to provide benefits to certain employees. Logan highlighted that the state can still enforce laws which would grant new workers compensation in the future.
