San Francisco State University finance students attend the Global Asset Management Education Forum in New York
On March 28–29, 2025, a group of top Finance students representing the Lam Family College of Business (LFCoB) at San Francisco State University (SFSU) attended the Global Asset Management Education Forum (GAME XIV Forum) hosted annually by Quinnipiac University in New York City. This event is widely recognized as the largest student-run financial conference in the world, drawing over 1,200 students and faculty from 150+ colleges and universities globally.
Over the course of two days in the heart of Manhattan, SF State students attended keynote addresses and breakout sessions featuring industry leaders across asset management, investment banking, fintech, private equity, and environmental, social and governance (ESG) investments. Speakers included current and former executives from BlackRock, Morgan Stanley, CFA Institute, Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and more, offering invaluable insights on market volatility, macroeconomic shifts, regulatory trends, and career pathways in finance.
The SFSU student delegation also had the opportunity to present their work at the LFCoB with the Student Sustainable Investment Fund (SSIF)—an ESG-focused portfolio now managing over $300,000 in assets under management (AUM). The students showcased the SFSU proprietary screening methodology for ESG investments based on public models from MSCI and BlackRock, and emphasized how the fund aligns with both impact goals and long-term financial performance.
The presenting team of students—Pierre Harbin, Dalton Kern, Amir Nabi, Aleksander Rassekhi and David Velis—delivered a strong, thoughtful presentation and fielded questions with confidence and clarity. Their participation in the conference exemplified the kind of experiential learning offered at SFSU that transforms classroom theory into real-world application. Their professionalism and the quality of their presentation demonstrated the caliber of SFSU students, and the high-quality learning environment fostered at SFSU.
Finance Professor and Director of the Lam-Larsen Fintech Initiative Todd Feldman, Ph.D., served as faculty mentor to the students, assisting with their preparation and accompanying them to the conference. Learn more about the Lam-Larsen Fintech Initiative on our website.
